The Singapore Institute of Directors (SID) has appointed Max Loh Khum Wai as the new chair of its governing council as part of a broader leadership renewal, the company announced.
Loh takes over Yeoh Oon Jin, who stepped down after serving three years in the role.
Loh has served on SID’s governing council since 2019, bringing expertise in audit, business advisory, corporate finance, risk management, and business transformation, SID said.
He currently serves as chairman of the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore and deputy chairman of the Building and Construction Authority.
Loh’s appointment comes as the governing council undergoes a planned leadership transition, with changes to the chair and CEO roles, SID said.
Two members, Neil Parekh and Justin Ang, have stepped down as part of the renewal, whilst Kevin Lai joined the council. Joy Tan and June Sim, who were co-opted last year, were elected to the council.
Four existing members, Max Loh, Ivan Ng, Karen Loon, and Ooi Huey Tyng, were reelected for another term.
SID said the governing council oversees the affairs of the institute and serves as its board of directors.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW
Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.
Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.
We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.
If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
