Lucy Fallon has revealed her Coronation Street alter-ego will choose not to confide in mum Sarah (Tina O'Brien) about her pregnancy in Coronation Street.
Of course, the news could tear the Platt family apart - given the baby's dad is none other than Sarah's ex, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts). There's only two members of the clan who know about their one night stand, Shona (Julia Goulding) and her sister Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown), though the latter is currently missing.
She previously threatened to expose the fling, and even possesses a recording of Bethany and Kit chatting about it.
In today's episode, ahead of her mum's first day in court for her murder of abusive Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), Bethany took a pregnancy test and was stunned to realise it was positive.
"When our producer Kate was telling me that she ends up being pregnant, my jaw was on the floor," Fallon explained following that explosive reveal.
"I think it's so good, in the sense that now they have got to face the consequences of what they've done and they can't just brush it under the carpet in the way that they wanted to. It's adding a whole other level of drama for the audience."
The actress also teased that a "big decision" lies ahead, after Bethany consults Dr Susan Gaddas (Christine Mackie) about her baby in tomorrow's instalment.
"She's obviously in shock. I think she kind of had a little idea that she potentially was pregnant, but when it’s confirmed I think she's shocked and devastated because it's not a situation that she wants to be in.

"Obviously, she's got to make a decision whether she goes ahead with it or whether she gets a termination and that's quite traumatic in itself."
Fallon added that Bethany telling Sarah the truth is simply not an option for her: "[She feels] really, really, really guilty. They're almost like best friends because they're not so far apart in age. So she's not feeling great about it, and I think it’s going to eat away at her until one day she can’t take it anymore.
"Right now it’s deny, deny, deny. Coming clean is not an option, especially if she wants to keep a relationship with her mum because [she] would have the right to never speak to either of them again.
"So she’s stuck in an impossible position right now."
