Aston Villa visit Newcastle United on Saturday evening on five points from six league games, with Unai Emery chasing his 100th Premier League win.
Villa beat Fenerbahce 6-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Nicolas Jackson and Ross Barkley both scoring twice. They have scored at least three goals in four of their last six games in all competitions. Villa drew 2-2 at home to Brentford in their previous league game and have won three and drawn one of their last four away games. Only three of their last 10 meetings with Newcastle in all competitions have ended in Villa wins.
Aston Villa team news
Ian Maatsen (ankle), Amadou Onana (knee), Matteo Ruggeri (thigh) and Modou Keba Cisse are listed as out, although Emery said earlier this week that Maatsen is close to returning. George Hemmings (knee) and Brian Madjo (ankle) are doubtful, with Emery having said earlier this week that both could return. Leon Goretzka made his debut as a substitute against Fenerbahce but is unlikely to start.
Joao Gomes is expected to return alongside Boubacar Kamara in central midfield, with Emiliano Buendia likely to replace Barkley, who scored twice in midweek. Captain John McGinn and Johan Manzambi are the most likely pair out wide, with Ibrahim Mbaye dropping to the bench. Nicolas Jackson, who has scored four goals in his last three appearances, is expected to lead the line. Aaron Wan-Bissaka may again cover at left-back, with Matty Cash on the right, Victor Lindelof and Pau Torres at centre-back and Zion Suzuki in goal.
Aston Villa predicted lineup
Aston Villa possible starting XI: Suzuki; Cash, Lindelof, Torres, Wan-Bissaka; Kamara, Gomes; McGinn, Buendia, Manzambi; Jackson
