BUSAN — Busan National Science Museum is launching a program to train specialist instructors in natural sciences and artificial intelligence as demand for AI education grows. The museum aims to strengthen the quality of science education outside schools by securing instructors capable of running experiment- and experience-based classes that combine the latest science and technology with the revised national curriculum.
The museum said on the 15th that it is recruiting 40 participants for its 2026 Prospective Instructor Training Course. It will select 20 people each in the natural sciences and AI fields, and the course is free of charge. Applications are being accepted online through the 31st of this month.
Training will run for four weeks, every Wednesday from Nov. 11 to Dec. 2, at the education center on the third floor of the museum. Reflecting the 2022 revised curriculum and recent trends in science and technology, the course focuses on building the ability to guide learners through inquiry and hands-on practice rather than on delivering knowledge.
The natural sciences track centers on experiment-based instruction linked to the Korea Junior Science Olympiad (KJSO), developing the ability to demonstrate scientific principles directly and to lead observation and inquiry activities. The AI track shares the museum's experience in running information and communications technology (ICT) education and uses the AI education platform KT AI Codiny to strengthen participants' ability to apply AI technology in the classroom.
Through the course, the museum plans to channel its experience in running its own education programs and teacher training into developing specialist instructors, and to build a pool of instructors to meet rising demand for science education.
Separately, the museum will also run fall semester education programs open to children from preschool age through middle school. From Nov. 7 to Dec. 13, it will offer 76 programs over six weekends, including Kids Science, AI Robot Class, Maker Lab, 3D Engineering and Eco Science. Applications will open at 2 p.m. on the 21st of this month, accepted in stages by grade level.
