Suspects in an attempted arson attack at a Vilnius facility used by US company SpaceX remain at large, Lithuania’s police chief said Monday.
“A pretrial investigation is currently underway, conducted by the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau. The investigation is being carried out quite intensively,” Police Commissioner General Arūnas Paulauskas told reporters.
Asked whether anyone had been detained, Paulauskas replied: “Not yet.”
He declined to say whether the search for suspects was limited to Lithuania or disclose their nationalities.
The incident occurred overnight Sunday at premises reportedly belonging to Delska, a data centre operator.
Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius, who was the first to make the incident public, convened a meeting Monday to discuss the attempted arson and a drone that entered Lithuanian airspace on Sunday.
The drone later crashed in the Pasvalys district in northern Lithuania. Its debris damaged a civilian car, but no injuries were reported.
Lithuanian officials have said the drone incident and the attempted arson were not linked. Presidential national security adviser Deividas Matulionis said Russia was a likely suspect in the arson attempt, although authorities had not yet established responsibility.
