The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) staged a recovery on Wednesday as the benchmark KSE-100 Index rose by 641 points, or 0.39%, to close at 165,417. The rebound followed several sessions of selling pressure, with investors returning to selected stocks at lower price levels.
Trading remained volatile throughout the session, with the index recording an intraday swing of 852 points between its high and low. Buying in ENGROH, LUCK, FFC, BAHL and NBP supported the recovery, adding a combined 381 points to the benchmark. Meanwhile, MCB, HUBC, POL, PTC and NATF limited the gains by pulling the index down by a total of 132 points.
Market activity also increased, with approximately 586 million shares traded at a total value of Rs. 20.1 billion. WTL led the volume chart, recording 87 million shares traded during the session.
Despite the recovery, political and economic uncertainty continued to weigh on investor sentiment. Sustained buying interest will be important for the market to maintain its upward momentum in the coming sessions.
