Colombo, Oct. 21 (Daily Mirror) - The government today assured the public that there was no reason to fear shortages of gas, fuel, fertiliser or medicine, saying sufficient stocks were available in the country.
Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Anil Jayantha told Parliament that certain parties were attempting to create public anxiety and spread doubts about the availability of gas.
He said gas supplies had been delayed by a day or two due to disruptions linked to the Middle East war. However, the situation was expected to return to normal soon, he added.
The Minister said Litro Gas was currently releasing 100,000 cylinders a day, compared with its normal daily supply of 80,000.
He also assured Parliament that sufficient fuel stocks were available in the country.
