The Los Angeles Rams have had a tough 2–3 start in the 2026 NFL season. Former tight end Rob Gronkowski says they need a total mental reset. They came so close to the Super Bowl the last two seasons, losing right at the end of back-to-back NFC Championship Games.
Rob Gronkowski Says Super Bowl Favorites Rams Will Miss the Postseason Entirely
Even with star players this year, they can’t seem to find their way. On Wednesday’s episode of the ‘Up & Adams Show,’ Gronk basically counted the Super Bowl favorites out of the playoffs. After a rough first five games and only one solid win against a weak New York Giants team, he doesn’t think the Rams will even make it.
“With the Los Angeles Rams, I was telling someone, I think I’m out on them,” Gronkowski said. “I really am because I’m a little disappointed in their play over five weeks. It’s not like they have shown any domination at all. Yeah, they dominated the New York Giants on that Monday Night Football game.
“But hey, they took a dagger right to the heart, the Giants, when their quarterback went out for the whole entire season and then Jameis Winston came in. He wasn’t prepared. I mean, it was it was a game that just didn’t feel right,” he added.
“Rams got away with easy one. That was the only game where it was very convincing that they’re a dominant team. All the other games, hey, I don’t know where is it like they don’t they can’t figure out how to win the games as well. They’re losing the games. A lot of things are handed to them and they just can’t overcome those situations and take advantage of it. So, I think so far I am out on the Los Angeles Rams, making it to the Super Bowl. Maybe not even the playoffs either.”

On being a fully loaded roster of Rams, Gronkowski said: “Well, when you’re super loaded like that, I feel like a lot of players depend on the other player to make a play because it’s like, oh, that guy’s a superstar next to me, he can make the play on this third, and I really think that sometimes it does happen and or it’s like it just doesn’t match…”
“But the defense for the Rams as well is letting up a lot of points. Like, they’re not playing well. They’re not playing vicious. Also, they’re not playing tough. Like, the Rams, they don’t look like a tough football team right now,” Gronk added.
Trading for Myles Garrett to team up with Aaron Donald, combined with bolstering the secondary with players like Trent McDuffie, provides the Rams with formidable defensive talent. However, they still look incomplete. As Gronkowski pointed out regarding the games against the 49ers, they were thoroughly outmatched and treated like a younger sibling.
