The Yellow Vests protest movement, which is participating in the widespread demonstrations in France, wants to build momentum for a "second act" this Saturday, followed by a "third act" the following Saturday.
The effort will be massive, Lecornu said of the authorities' preparations in a speech to parliament, according to AFP.
Starting at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, a curfew will once again be in place in parts of Paris, police announced. This follows what Lecornu said were successful curfews imposed in several cities the previous night.
“I am the one who decides”
Lecornu has described the police operation the previous weekend as “too static” and “not mobile enough”.
He also accuses far-left groups of planning an uprising and says the authorities will not tolerate such groups "marching towards the Elysée Palace or Matignon", the residences of the president and prime minister, respectively.
"In the coming days, I am the one who decides and you can count on me to act resolutely. It is not something I need to prove. I will be extremely resolute," Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez said, according to France24.
Anti-terror operation launched
Nuñez also says the military's anti-terrorist operation Sentinelle will be deployed on Saturday to free up other security resources from guarding sensitive sites, allowing police and gendarmes to focus on "maintaining public order."
Ahead of the weekend, Paris police have temporarily banned residents from carrying bottles or containers of petrol or gas.
France was paralyzed this weekend by widespread demonstrations for social justice and against the high cost of living, followed by violence in several places.
Thousands of people have been detained by police, who in turn are accused of widespread violence.
