Ethereum has approached November near $2,450, well below its early-October price, while U.S. spot funds continue to lose money and developers prepare another Glamsterdam test. ETH could work back toward $2,800 if buyers return, but the upgrade has no mainnet date and the token has struggled to hold $2,500. Those unresolved questions leave room for a much weaker month even if everything goes smoothly.
Summary
- ETH traded around $2,450 on October 21 after falling from roughly $2,695 at the start of October.
- U.S. spot Ether funds lost $103.3 million on October 19 and $26.1 million on October 20.
- Glamsterdam’s Hoodi testnet activation is scheduled for October 26; its mainnet date remains undecided.
- From $2,450, a $2,800 upside scenario requires roughly 14.3%, while $2,200 is about 10.2% lower.
- Beaconcha.in recorded roughly 43.8 million ETH staked through October 20, a measure distinct from ETF subscriptions.
Ether has traded near $2,450 on October 21, roughly 9% below the $2,695 area seen early in the month. As ETH prices change by venue and minute, so all percentage calculations here use a round $2,450 reference. A November outcome has to be judged against the price when the month begins, not assumed from an October 21 quote.
Developers have a dated test ahead of them. In an October 16 protocol notice, the Ethereum Foundation scheduled Glamsterdam to activate on Hoodi at epoch 132,352 and slot 4,235,264 on October 26, around 17:42:48 UTC. Sepolia went through the upgrade on October 6. The foundation has yet to decide when mainnet will follow, so a November price case cannot treat Hoodi’s schedule as a promised launch for users.
Ethereum’s October slide reset the starting price
ETH traded around $2,695 on October 4, when the $2,775 to $2,800 area stood between the token and a possible move to $3,000. By October 21, ETH was roughly $245 lower. Recovering $2,800 would now require a gain of about $350 from the $2,450 reference, while $3,000 would take an advance of roughly 22.4%. The intervening selloff has turned a nearby resistance area into a much more demanding recovery.
ETH first has to get back above $2,500 and stay there, something it has struggled to do this month. A move through $2,600 would take back part of October’s decline. Reaching $2,800 would do considerably more, erasing the fall from the early-month level before extending the recovery. The distance between those prices matters when judging whether a rebound has gathered enough demand to last.
On October 14, the failed recovery above $2,500 coincided with persistent fund withdrawals and weak sentiment. The October 21 quote does not prove the $2,500 barrier will hold in November. It documents that ETH had not regained the area after the latest rebound. A daily or weekly close carries more information about persistence than a brief intraday print that retreats before settlement.
Our upside case places ETH near $2,800 by November’s end if fund demand turns, the testnet proceeds without a material setback and risk appetite improves after the Fed’s October 28 meeting. From $2,450, $350 divided by $2,450 is approximately 14.3%. The adverse $2,200 case is $250 lower, or about 10.2%. These are conditional zones illustrating the size of two paths, not values generated by a model claiming precise odds.
The market capitalization in CoinGecko’s October 21 reading was near $300 billion. A 14.3% change in the quoted price would shift a simple supply-times-price valuation substantially, but it would not require an equal amount of cash to enter the market. Existing ETH is marked at the latest marginal price. ETF inflows and corporate treasury purchases are flows; market capitalization is a stock. Keeping the units apart prevents a misleading account of how much money a rally would cost.
Fund withdrawals give the downside case substance
Farside Investors’ Ether ETF table recorded $103.3 million of net withdrawals on October 19 and another $26.1 million on October 20. The displayed totals add to $129.4 million over those two sessions. BlackRock’s ETHA lost $95.4 million on the first day and $33 million on the second. Smaller positive rows elsewhere on October 20 did not outweigh the aggregate redemptions.
The October 12 to 16 trading week had already brought about $320.1 million in Ether fund withdrawals, compared with $228.4 million for Bitcoin funds, according to crypto.news’ weekly comparison. The two groups have different asset bases and investor mixes, so the dollar difference does not prove ETH investors are more bearish in percentage terms. It does establish that the Ether products faced a larger net dollar loss in that week.
An ETH rebound above $2,500 can occur even while the listed funds lose money, but buyers would then have to come from other parts of the market, including direct spot trading. Several positive weeks for the funds would make that source of demand easier to identify. A favorable aggregate would still require a look at the individual products; it would not show that every institution increased its position.
An Ether fund’s assets can shrink even when nobody redeems a share, because a lower ETH price reduces the value of the tokens it already holds. Net flow measures creations and redemptions instead, although providers may apply different conventions. When October’s price and the fund balance are both falling, a November comparison needs the dates, product set and flow source to show how much of the change came from investors leaving.
October 19 and 20 are particularly informative because Bitcoin spot funds took in $526.7 million and $23.2 million on the same days in Farside’s BTC table. The two assets did not attract matching listed-fund demand during the rebound. A broad crypto rally does not guarantee ETH gains in the same proportion as BTC. ETH’s relative price and its own fund subscriptions can help distinguish a sector move from a token-specific recovery.
The adverse case does not need every session to be negative. Several days of modest inflows can coexist with one large redemption that dominates the week. That was the pattern investors saw repeatedly in October. For the $2,800 case, the more telling change would be consistent net creation over a meaningful run of trading sessions, preferably alongside spot price gains rather than appearing only after a jump.
Hoodi is a milestone, not a November mainnet promise
Glamsterdam is meant to alter how Ethereum builds and processes blocks. The Ethereum roadmap describes enshrined proposer-builder separation and block-level access lists among its main features. Those mechanisms can affect validator workflow, execution and scaling capacity. They do not compel anyone to buy ETH in the week a testnet activates.
The foundation’s October 16 announcement says Sepolia had already activated Glamsterdam and places Hoodi on October 26. It also says Hoodi’s gas limit will be raised to 200 million at the same epoch. That gas limit is a testnet parameter, not proof that mainnet is already processing at that capacity or that users will pay more aggregate fees. Mainnet activation will require its own decision and notice.
Glamsterdam’s changes to block processing could eventually ease congestion for applications. Hoodi now gives developers a dated opportunity to check those changes, after Sepolia’s October 6 activation. The November questions are whether testing leads to a mainnet date and, later, whether applications benefit once the upgrade reaches users. Hoodi’s scheduled fork cannot answer either in advance.
The test can strengthen confidence if execution and consensus clients stay synchronized, blocks finalize and application developers find no material compatibility issue. A problem that requires a fix or postponement would weaken an upgrade-driven trading thesis, although it would not automatically set ETH’s price. Public client releases, fork status and a subsequent foundation statement are better evidence than a social media claim that the entire upgrade is live.
Ethereum.org lists Glamsterdam as expected in the fourth quarter of 2026. A quarter-long target leaves room for a December deployment and does not itself promise a November mainnet date. The Hoodi announcement is the more precise calendar entry, but even its expected timestamp can depend on epoch timing. The distinction protects a price forecast from assigning November demand to an event that may occur later.
The economic effect would need observation after deployment. Higher capacity can lower fees for a given level of activity, while greater throughput can draw more use. ETH fee burn depends on transactions and fee conditions, not simply on a larger theoretical gas limit. An upgrade can improve the network while short-term token demand remains weak; technological success and price appreciation are separate hypotheses.
Staking and treasury holdings require different readings
Beaconcha.in’s staking entities tracker showed roughly 43.8 million ETH staked in its data through October 20, up approximately 1.02% over the preceding 30 days. Staking removes coins from immediate unstaked inventory while they remain committed, but it does not remove them permanently from supply. Withdrawals, validator queues and liquid staking claims mean a gross staked total is not the same as a permanent shortage of tradable ETH.

Corporate treasuries add another source of demand with different timing. BitMine reported 6,016,414 ETH as of October 4 and 15,112 ETH acquired in the preceding week. Its chairman described a goal around 5% of ETH supply and an end to accumulation near that ceiling, according to a closer look at BitMine’s buying pace. Those statements do not prove a halt occurred. Later holdings releases would show whether the company still bought in November.
At the October 21 reference of $2,450, BitMine’s reported 15,112 ETH purchase from an earlier week would have a quoted value around $37 million. Multiplying the token count by a later price gives the order’s scale, but it does not recover the price BitMine actually paid or establish what it will buy next. Staking rewards can change the balance separately, leaving a later holdings increase open to more than one explanation.
Staking income can increase a treasury’s ETH balance even after discretionary buying ends. A corporate statement about no further purchases would therefore need to distinguish acquired coins from earned rewards. The same issue complicates simple comparisons between company holdings and ETF flows. A staking reward is new issuance to validators; a fund creation reallocates investor capital into an existing product; a treasury purchase is a trade or series of trades whose venue and time may not be fully disclosed.
The bullish argument says substantial staking and recurring treasury accumulation can limit available selling while a successful upgrade improves the network’s appeal. The counterargument is that an eventual stop to a prominent buyer, alongside persistent ETF withdrawals, could leave the market short of fresh demand. Both require dated follow-up records. Neither is settled by the October 21 staking count alone.
The $2,800 upside route has several gates
ETH would first need to hold above $2,500, then work through $2,600 near the area it lost on October 7. Such a move would suggest the rebound has gained more support than a short reaction to Bitcoin’s price. Another $200 would still separate it from the $2,800 scenario, where continuing spot and fund demand would matter more than the mere completion of a testnet fork.
The Federal Reserve meets October 27 and 28, just after Hoodi’s scheduled test. A decision that reduces pressure on Treasury yields could help risk assets. A hold or hike might be read differently depending on the expectation priced before the vote and the accompanying guidance. There is no scheduled November FOMC policy vote; October’s outcome and November’s incoming data will shape expectations for the December meeting.
If the Hoodi deployment succeeds, developers may provide more detail about the mainnet plan. An announced date would be new information; treating the Q4 roadmap label as if it were already a November launch would not be. A constructive price narrative needs the distinction between a scheduled test and a scheduled deployment, particularly when traders are assigning a premium to a network catalyst.
The fund threshold is not one arbitrary dollar target. It is a change in persistence. Daily outflows of $103.3 million and $26.1 million on consecutive sessions show the current direction, while a run of positive weekly aggregates would document a reversal. Price and flows should be checked together. ETH could rise despite redemptions, but then another buyer would have to account for the difference rather than the ETF explanation being repeated by habit.
The $2,800 scenario would be weakened if ETH cannot hold $2,500, Hoodi reveals a material unresolved issue or funds continue to lose assets through redemptions. It is not disproved by a single red day or a brief intraday dip. The scenario describes a sequence of sustained demand and credible upgrade progress, and the relevant evidence has to be measured over time.
The $2,200 adverse case is closer in dollars
From $2,450, the adverse $2,200 level lies $250 away, compared with $350 to $2,800. That asymmetry in dollars is not a probability statement. It shows that the two illustrations need different sized moves from the same dated start. The market can trade through both in a volatile month, end between them or finish outside the range.
Continued Ether ETF redemptions give the downside case a specific channel. A firm could halt its treasury accumulation near a stated ceiling while other buyers fail to replace that demand. Strong inflation or higher bond yields after the October Fed meeting could lower risk appetite across crypto. None of those developments automatically causes a $2,200 print, but their combination would undermine the assumptions supporting a recovery.
An upgrade delay could further reduce the near-term catalyst, especially if investors had assumed mainnet activation was imminent. A delay in Hoodi would be a different event from a later decision to adjust mainnet timing. The foundation has not set a mainnet date, so a November with no mainnet fork should not itself be described as a broken promise. Reporting the test results rather than assuming a launch is essential to the bear case as well as the bull case.
Staked supply is not a guarantee against a price decline. Tokens held in a validator or through liquid staking arrangements can still be economically hedged; some can be withdrawn subject to protocol processes. A rise in staked ETH alongside a price decline would demonstrate that one stock measure did not offset selling and weak demand elsewhere. It would not mean the staking data were false.
The downside thesis weakens if ETH holds above $2,500 for successive sessions, fund subscriptions turn consistently positive and Hoodi completes without a serious issue. Even then, $2,800 requires further buying. Each condition checks a different part of the story: price acceptance, listed-fund demand and protocol execution.
A network upgrade does not settle token value
ETH is used for gas and staking, but the relationship between applications and the token’s market price is not fixed. More transactions can raise aggregate fees in some conditions; greater capacity can lower the fee paid per transaction. Some activity takes place on layer 2 networks, where users may pay fees in different forms while the networks post data to Ethereum. The total number of app transactions is therefore not a direct multiplier for ETH revenue or token price.
Fee burn and validator issuance operate on different sides of ETH supply. Burn depends on fee mechanics and network demand. Issuance compensates validators. A claim that the upgrade will make ETH deflationary in November would need actual post-deployment activity, fee and issuance records. Hoodi testing cannot provide mainnet fee revenue because it is a test network.
The October price path already shows why milestone timing alone is insufficient. Sepolia activated Glamsterdam on October 6, yet ETH fell from its early-month area rather than moving automatically toward $3,000. That observation does not show the upgrade failed or had no value. It shows that investors were pricing other forces, including ETF withdrawals and macro conditions, at the same time.
Our range does not assign probabilities. Statistical confidence would require a defined model, a distribution of returns and assumptions about changing volatility. Simple arithmetic produces the 14.3% upside and 10.2% downside distances, not their likelihood. Those percentages allow the reader to judge how demanding each path is without treating a narrative forecast as a precise measurement.
ETH can remain between $2,200 and $2,800 throughout much of November if the fund losses moderate but buying does not return. The range is not a trading band enforced by a protocol or exchange. It is a way to test two distinct developments against the dated October 21 reference. A surprise in policy, a major market incident or new network information can invalidate both.
November evidence will come in stages
Hoodi’s October 26 activation, the October 28 Fed decision, weekly ETF data and any subsequent mainnet announcement arrive on separate clocks. The order prevents a simple claim that one event caused all price movement in November. If ETH moves before Hoodi, that price change reflects expectations or another driver. If it moves after, the result still needs a check against the market-wide backdrop.
The Fed’s October minutes are scheduled for November 18, while its next regularly scheduled decision is in December. Minutes can supply detail about the debate but cannot retroactively change the October vote. Watch rates and the dollar around their publication alongside Ether fund data, with the possibility that the market had already inferred the main points from the press conference.
The Ethereum Foundation has specified Hoodi’s epoch and slot and said the mainnet date is not decided. That is a concrete operational boundary for the November story. A later developer notice can change what is scheduled; until one appears, a forecast should not put a date in the foundation’s mouth. The next reliable price comparison is ETH’s completed October close against its October 21 level and the fund flows available at that time.
What to watch
- October 26 Hoodi fork: Check the activation and client status before treating Glamsterdam as nearer to mainnet.
- Mainnet notice: The Ethereum Foundation has not set a date, despite its Q4 roadmap target.
- Ether ETF flows: Compare multiweek net creations with the $129.4 million withdrawn on October 19 and 20.
- Price recovery: Sustained trade over $2,500 and then $2,600 would strengthen the path toward $2,800.
- Treasury updates: New BitMine holdings disclosures can show whether its stated 5% ceiling changes purchases.
FAQ
What is the Ethereum price prediction for November 2026?
The conditional upside case reaches roughly $2,800 if ETH regains $2,500 and fund demand improves. The adverse $2,200 case assumes continuing withdrawals and weak risk appetite. Neither is a guaranteed closing price.
How far is $2,800 from ETH’s October 21 price?
From a rounded $2,450 reference, it is $350 higher, or approximately 14.3%. The reference is a dated market reading rather than a fixed November starting price.
Is Glamsterdam launching on Ethereum mainnet October 26?
No. October 26 is the scheduled Hoodi testnet activation. The Ethereum Foundation says the mainnet date has not been decided.
Did Glamsterdam activate on Sepolia?
Yes. The foundation’s October 16 announcement says Sepolia activated the upgrade October 6. A successful testnet fork is not a mainnet deployment.
How much did Ether ETFs lose on October 19 and 20?
Farside recorded $103.3 million and $26.1 million of net withdrawals, respectively, or $129.4 million combined using the displayed totals.
Does staking lock 43.8 million ETH forever?
No. Beaconcha.in’s October 20 reading shows ETH committed to staking at that time. Withdrawal processes and liquid staking arrangements prevent equating it with permanently removed supply.
Does BitMine’s 5% target mean it has stopped buying?
No completed halt follows from the October 4 holdings disclosure or the stated ceiling. Later company updates are needed to confirm acquisitions and reward treatment.
Would a successful upgrade guarantee a price rally?
No. Network improvements, fee activity, fund flows and ETH’s market price are separate measurements. The upside case requires observed demand as well as protocol progress. This is educational analysis, not investment advice.
