For the second time since June, the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works has confirmed with the Cape Breton Post that the completion of Campbell Brook Bridge has been delayed again.
In an email to the Post, Public Works spokesperson Gary Andrea said the project is experiencing delays with moving utility poles at the site, which has halted work.
The Campbell Brook Bridge has been closed since September 2025 as work to replace it began.
Originally, Public Works expected the project to be completed by July 31. However, the completion date was then moved to Sept. 30, but work has yet to be completed.
The department now says the project is expected to be completed by Dec. 20.
A detour is in place via Route 305 to North West Arm Road to Route 239 to Route 305. The bridge is closed 24 hours a day, seven days a week until work is completed.
Meanwhile, as reported by the Post last week, vehicle and pedestrian safety improvements will be made at the intersection of Brookside, South, Water and Commercial streets in Glace Bay.
Work began more than a week ago. Traffic control will be in place, and motorists and pedestrians should expect delays and stop-and-go traffic.
Meanwhile, Jewells Bridge on Louisbourg Main-à-Dieu Road is closed for replacement until Oct. 31. The detour route includes Main-à-Dieu Road and Route 22.
Work is also continuing at the Catalone Lake Truss Bridge on Mira Bay Drive.
As well, road work is taking place at several locations in Inverness County, according to Public Works.
