Kia (000270) said on the 21st that it will unveil PV5 and EV5 police patrol cars at the 2026 Korea Police Expo (KPEX 2026), held from the 21st to the 24th at Songdo Convensia in Incheon's Yeonsu District.
The expo is a trade show for the policing and public safety sectors, co-hosted by the Korean National Police Agency and the Incheon metropolitan government and co-organized by the Incheon Tourism Organization, Messe Esang and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). This year's event is being held under the theme of opening a new era for Korean policing through artificial intelligence and robotics.
The PV5 patrol car concept is optimized for transporting multiple officers and operating police equipment, drawing on the vehicle's roomy interior. A low floor and sliding doors improve ease of entry and exit as well as mobility in the field, and the vehicle is designed to efficiently load and operate the equipment needed for patrol and policing duties.
The EV5 patrol car concept offers 965 liters of luggage space under Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) standards, improving storage convenience.

Through the concept vehicles, Kia aims to present a vision for eco-friendly police vehicles based on electric cars and purpose-built vehicles (PBVs), and to continue expanding mobility solutions tailored to police operations.
Kia developed an AI patrol car in the first half of this year in partnership with the National Police Agency. Built on the five-seat PV5 Passenger, the AI patrol car is designed to detect risks early and support patrol activity that links ground and aerial operations. The roof carries three 4K-class AI cameras and a drone station, while monitors inside the cabin and at the rear strengthen on-scene response capability. The AI patrol car has been in operation with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's wide-area crime prevention patrol unit since July. Kia plans to review whether to deploy more vehicles based on the results of the trial run.
Kia also runs training programs with the National Police Agency on the safe operation of electrified vehicles. Sessions were held from June through August for officials in charge of vehicles at the Seoul, Busan and South Gyeongsang Province police agencies, and the automaker plans to further expand training cooperation in line with the police agency's electrification policy.
