The drama began when Karangu's estranged wife, Triza Njeri, took to Facebook to celebrate Essy's graduation milestone.
Sharp-eyed followers quickly noticed that Karangu was nowhere in the photos, a detail that attracted significant online chatter, especially since his second wife, Carol Kim, had recently shared photos of her own daughter's graduation with Karangu celebrating her.
How did Karangu make up for missing daughter's graduation?
Karangu eventually broke his silence online, revealing that he had made a prior commitment to attend the graduation of his nephew, the son of his late brother Kagema Muraya.

The two events had clashed, and he had chosen to honour his nephew's milestone.
The explanation softened some critics but did little to silence others who felt his daughter should have come first.
Hours after addressing the backlash, Karangu paid a visit to all his children with Triza, arriving with a bundle of gifts.
He made sure Essy, the graduate, received the most attention, documenting the emotional reunion in a video he shared online.
Over the following hours, he continued to honour her across his social media platforms, posting multiple tributes and dismissing claims that a TikTok fundraiser was being organised in Essy's name to celebrate her graduation.
"I will celebrate my kids the whole of this week. Once again congratulations my Essie," he wrote in one of his posts.

Kenyans react
The video and subsequent posts drew a wave of reactions from followers who were visibly moved by the reunion between the father and his children.
Commenters noted the palpable joy on the children's faces at seeing their dad.
@Ruth Mash:
"Sijui kwanini nimeskia kulia, these kids just wish they would be staying with their dad, that joy after seeing him was on another level."
@Naomi Kui Njee:
"Close your eyes, close your eyes, Saplaiiis. Lovely moments."
@Emma Steve:
"Are you outside the gate?"
@Maureen Maina:
"Saplaiiiisss. Was waiting for a bouquet of cash. I don't know where I saw it the other day."
Not everyone was fully convinced by the gesture, however. One follower offered a firm reminder about what children value most.
@Mercy Marcel:
"Your presence at school is more important than a gift. Your presence during the school celebration creates a better impression in a child's mind. Next time, be present during the graduation day activities. A gift is a plus. But attendance is a perfect gift."
Why did Karangu Muraya cry over his brothers' deaths?
TUKO.co.ke also highlighted facts about Karangu’s account of losing his brothers, Paul Kareithi Muraya and Kagema, within four months.
He said he was blamed online for their deaths and accused of seeking wealth through their loss. The allegations, he said, left him unable to speak at one brother’s burial.
