ISLAMABAD: A court has sentenced three accused, including a foreign national, to seven years in prison each in an online investment fraud case, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) said on Thursday.
In a statement on X, the NCCIA said the Islamabad Circle secured the convictions following an effective investigation and court proceedings. The court also imposed a cumulative fine of Rs250,000 on the three convicts.
According to the agency, the accused defrauded a citizen of Rs19.391 million by luring them into an investment scheme through a fake application impersonating a foreign private bank.
The investigation was conducted by Sub-Inspector Shehroz Riaz, the NCCIA said, adding that it remained committed to taking legal action against cybercrime suspects and protecting citizens.
Earlier, the NCCIA arrested Pakistani software developer Faheem Akram in Lahore over his alleged involvement in a $126 million fraud involving counterfeit US postage labels, officials said.

According to the NCCIA, Faheem Akram allegedly operated a website to sell counterfeit US postage labels, causing estimated losses of more than $126 million to the United States Postal Service (USPS).

NCCIA officials said the suspect had been wanted by US authorities in connection with the alleged fraud, which involved the online sale of more than five million counterfeit postage labels.
Addressing a press conference, NCCIA Lahore Zone Additional Director Atif Ameer said the suspect had operated the website LabelsBank.com from August 2023 to September 2026, marketing and selling counterfeit US postage labels online.
