Eight months after undergoing surgery on a torn ACL, Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet has the opportunity to play in his first game back from surgery this weekend.
The Seahawks officially activated Charbonnet off the physically unable to perform list on Thursday. His 21-day practice window opened back on Oct. 1, meaning Thursday was the last day to activate him to the 53-man roster.
It's still unknown if Charbonnet will play in Sunday's game versus the Kansas City Chiefs, but there's the chance for him to play for the first time this season. He tore his ACL during the Seahawks' NFC divisional round playoff game in January before his team went on to win the Super Bowl title.
Regardless if he plays or not this weekend, Seattle coach Mike Macdonald is impressed with Charbonnet's recovery.
"It's remarkable," Macdonald said this week. "I know he's had a certain date in mind, which is a really ambitious date. Those who have tried to come back from a significant knee surgery understand the undertaking that it takes. Zach's a beast. He looks great. It's not easy to say, 'All right, let's go.' So for him to have that courage to say that and work through the things he's worked through, you can't do anything but tip your cap to him."

Charbonnet's addition would be huge for the Seahawks as their run game is still struggling since losing Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III to the Chiefs. Walker will play his reunion matchup on Sunday.
Charbonnet sat behind Walker statistically last season, posting 730 yards and 12 touchdowns on 184 carries. This season, Emanuel Wilson leads the Seahawks with 303 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 87 carries.
