00s heartthrob Tom Welling sent fans into quite a tailspin after accidentally sharing an explicit picture on his social media.
But he’s taken the mix-up all in stride.
The Smallville actor, 49, inadvertently shared his unclothed form when sharing a snap of the New York skyline to announce his arrival for this year’s Comic-Con.
When fans pointed out that a faint outline of his naked body was visible in the reflection of the glass, he took it down after 10 hours, leaving everyone’s hearts racing and his 2.2 million followers in shock.
With widespread chatter about the social media faux pas, the Superman star is clearly taking the discourse in good jest, commenting with various laughing and heart emojis under posts poking fun at the situation.
Even his Smallville co-sytar Micahel Rosenbaum made light of the blunder with his own version of the picture and the caption: ‘Just looking after my boy’.
Meanwhile, under one post from Hello Magazine celebrating his casual response to the situation, he cheekily responded: ‘Not intentional, but still reflecting on it,’ which cracked fans up even more.
Despite the error, Welling, who portrayed Superman’s origin story as teen Clark Kent across 10 seasons of CW’s hit superhero series until 2011, attended the comic con panel dedicated to the show as it marked 15 years since it came to an end.
At the time the show was airing, the TV star was at the height of his fame, not least because of his dashing looks.
Although Welling didn’t address the Instagram story incident during the panel, the discussion did veer into nude photos at one point in an unexpected way.
Discussing NSFW portraits of him during Smallville’s run, he recalled one time his co-star John Glover asked him to sign a nude photo of himself.
‘He thought it was so cute. He [was] like: “Is this really you?” I’m like: “Yep.” And I signed it for him,’ he reminisced.
