Fort Worth Country Day football coach Keith Burns has resigned midway through the season, days before the Falcons are scheduled to play TMI Episcopal in San Antonio.
School athletics officials confirmed Burns' resignation Tuesday, Oct. 13, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported. The reason for his departure is unclear.
"Coach Keith Burns resigned, and it would not be our place to speak for his reasoning," Country Day athletics said in a statement to the newspaper. "We are grateful for the years of leadership with our team."
Offensive coordinator TJ Millweard will serve as interim head coach for the rest of the season.
The Falcons are 4-3 overall and 3-1 in Southwest Preparatory Conference Class 3A play. They lost 51-12 to Arlington Oakridge on Friday, Oct. 9.
