The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Coronation Street dated October 19. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.
Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) fate has been revealed in Coronation Street after going on trial.
Earlier this year, Sarah was involved in a showdown with Theo Silverton (James Cartwright), the man who abused Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce).
After Sarah smacked him with a metal pole, Theo fell to his death. She immediately called Gary Windass (Mikey North), who assisted in trying to cover the death up.
Ultimately, keeping this a secret and letting someone else go to prison for her crime was something Sarah couldn’t do.
Last week, Sarah arrived in court ready for her trial. Things got off to a pretty bad start, as DS Lisa Connor-Swain’s (Vicky Myers) statement unintentionally made things worse for Sarah, while Theo’s ex Danielle (Natalie Anderson) defended him.
Up Next
The next day, all hope was resting on Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). He was incredibly nervous when he took to the stand, as he had to recall the abusive relationship he was in with Theo. Because of his anxiety, Todd slipped up on his words a number of times, and sadly didn’t do a very good job at helping Sarah.
After initially refusing to go to court, Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) changed his mind and decided to take to the stand.
While Kit didn’t hesitate in telling the jury what he really thinks of Sarah, he made an effort to also state that he doesn’t believe she is capable of murder.
In today’s episode, the trial concluded, and it was time for the jury to deliver their verdict.
Everyone was on edge. Fortunately, it was then revealed that Sarah had been found not guilty.
She could go home.
Back in Weatherfield, a relieved and overjoyed Sarah quickly turned her attention to her relationship with Kit.
Sarah hoped that Kit would give her another chance, but he made it clear that it was too late.
What Kit hasn’t told Sarah is that he slept with Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) while she was behind bars. And what Bethany hasn’t told either of them is that she is currently pregnant with Kit’s baby.
One thing is for certain – the life Sarah was living before she went to prison isn’t the one she is living now.
