Brentford travel to the MKM Stadium on Sunday afternoon looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season, a 2-1 loss to Liverpool that cost them two midfielders to red cards.
Keith Andrews’ side are sixth in the Premier League with 10 points from seven matches, one point above Sunday’s hosts. Brentford remain unbeaten on their travels this season, though all three of their away matches so far have ended in draws. Brentford’s 13 goals scored and five-goal positive difference from seven matches are among the better underlying numbers in the division outside the top six.
Brentford team news
Yehor Yarmolyuk and Vitaly Janelt are both suspended after being sent off in last weekend’s defeat to Liverpool, forcing Andrews to completely rebuild his central midfield pairing. Joshua Dasilva (hamstring), Kaye Furo (foot) and Antoni Milambo (knock) are also unavailable, with no fresh doubts reported elsewhere in the squad. Andrews will be without his first-choice central pairing for the first time this season, a blow against a Hull side that has scored three goals from high turnovers in the final third.
Club-record signing Mamadou Sangare is set to take one of the vacant central midfield positions, in what will be his first Premier League start since 12 September. Mathias Jensen is expected to partner him in the middle of the park. Jaidon Anthony, Mikkel Damsgaard and Kevin Schade, who has scored three goals from 17 shots this season, are set to continue as the attacking trio behind Igor Thiago, with Michael Kayode and Keane Lewis-Potter retaining their places at full-back either side of Kristoffer Ajer and Schuster in central defence.
