Titans vs. Colts: 5 players to start/sit in fantasy football for Week 6

The Tennessee Titans will travel to Indianapolis to take on the Colts in an AFC South showdown, giving fantasy football managers several important lineup decisions to consider.

With both offenses looking to find consistency, identifying the players capable of producing despite their respective teams' struggles could make all the difference in Week 6.

The must-start players from this game include Colts running back Jonathan Taylor and tight end Tyler Warren — if he's active.

Josh Downs and Tony Pollard headline this week's recommended starts, while Daniel Jones and Cam Ward are quarterbacks fantasy managers should consider leaving on the bench.

Here's a look at five players to start or sit ahead of Sunday's matchup.

Start 'Em: Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts

Downs is an intriguing fantasy option heading into Sunday's matchup against a Tennessee defense that has struggled to contain opposing receivers. Downs' ability to create separation underneath and operate effectively out of the slot makes him a valuable target for Daniel Jones, particularly in PPR formats. If Indianapolis can establish a rhythm through the passing game, Downs has the potential to turn a healthy target share into a productive fantasy afternoon.

The biggest factor in Downs' outlook is whether Jones can deliver the football consistently. Although the quarterback's struggles have limited the production of Indianapolis' receiving corps, Tennessee presents an opportunity for the Colts to get their passing attack back on track. Downs is worth consideration as a flex option, especially for managers looking for a receiver with reception upside.

Sit 'Em: Daniel Jones, QB, Indianapolis Colts

Daniel Jones has struggled to provide consistent fantasy production this season, making him a risky option against Tennessee. Through five games, Jones has thrown for 1,021 yards with three touchdowns and four interceptions, numbers that leave plenty to be desired for fantasy managers relying on him as their starting quarterback. His inability to consistently generate touchdowns has limited his ceiling, while his recent struggles have also created uncertainty for Indianapolis' passing game.

Although the Titans have allowed opportunities for opposing quarterbacks to produce, fantasy managers should look for more dependable alternatives before trusting Jones in their lineups. His current production makes him difficult to recommend outside of deeper leagues or situations where injuries and bye weeks have severely limited available options. Until Jones demonstrates greater consistency, he's best left on the bench.

Sit 'Em: Cam Ward, QB, Tennessee Titans

Cam Ward has had difficulty finding consistency during his rookie campaign, and Sunday's matchup against Indianapolis presents another challenging test. Ward has recorded 896 passing yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions through five games, and he has yet to throw multiple passing touchdowns in a game this season. Those struggles have prevented him from establishing himself as a reliable fantasy starter, even when the matchup offers some potential upside.

The Colts have shown vulnerabilities against the pass, but Ward hasn't consistently capitalized on favorable opportunities. Tennessee's offensive struggles and difficulty sustaining drives make it tough to trust the rookie's weekly floor. Unless managers are desperate for a quarterback because of injuries or bye weeks, Ward should remain on the bench until he shows signs of improvement.

Start 'Em: Carnell Tate, WR, Tennessee Titans

Carnell Tate remains one of Tennessee's most intriguing fantasy options despite the team's offensive struggles. The rookie leads the Titans with 23 receptions through five games, demonstrating his importance to Ward's passing attack. His nine-catch, 145-yard performance against Baltimore in Week 4 also showcased the upside he can offer when the Titans consistently get him involved in the offense.

Tate's production is tied closely to Ward's ability to deliver accurate passes, which introduces some risk into this recommendation. Indianapolis has been vulnerable against the pass, however, and Tate's established role gives him a path to a useful fantasy performance. Managers should view him as a flex option with upside, particularly in deeper leagues, while recognizing that Tennessee's inconsistent offense could limit his opportunities.

Start 'Em: Tony Pollard, RB, Tennessee Titans

Tony Pollard is worth starting against an Indianapolis defense that has struggled to stop the run. The veteran running back has recorded 273 rushing yards on 68 carries through five games, adding 24 receiving yards on eight catches. Although his overall production hasn't been spectacular, his role as Tennessee's primary running back gives him a reasonable opportunity to accumulate fantasy points through volume.

The Colts have allowed nearly five yards per carry this season, creating an encouraging matchup for Pollard and the Tennessee rushing attack. If the Titans can keep the game competitive and avoid falling into an early deficit, Pollard should have opportunities to contribute throughout the afternoon. His touchdown upside makes him a viable RB2 or flex option, particularly for managers seeking a dependable workload at running back.
