A rally along Hatirjheel Lake Road in Dhaka raised awareness, promoted childhood vaccination, and encouraged community participation in efforts to eradicate polio.
People from diverse backgrounds, including Rotarians, joined the rally with placards and festoons carrying awareness messages, expressing solidarity with the pursuit of a polio-free world, according to the press release.
Dr Ishtiaq Zaman, Rotary International's country coordinator for Bangladesh, and AKM Shamsul Huda, deputy country coordinator, led the rally. Both are former Rotary governors.
The initiative highlighted the importance of encouraging parents and guardians to vaccinate their children against polio. It also emphasised the need for community involvement to sustain eradication efforts and protect children from the disease.
Rotary International has long played an important role in global polio eradication efforts. Working with international health organisations and local communities, it continues to support initiatives to protect children and achieve a polio-free world.
