Longtime NFL executive Joe Siclare has joined Andalusian Sports Advisors as a senior deal partner, an Andalusian spokesperson confirmed. Siclare played a crucial role in the recent sale of the Seattle Seahawks, where ASA advised the Khosla family on their $9.6 billion acquisition of the NFL team.
Siclare spent more than 30 years in the NFL, starting in 1992 as league controller. He became CFO in 2011, reporting to commissioner Roger Goodell while overseeing league-wide finances, including labor and club finances, league accounting and taxes. His role expanded in 2022 to encompass broader league policy matters. He transitioned to a senior advisor role in 2024.
Andalusian Private Capital & Advisory was founded by Jeffrey Kaplan and Nicholas Savasta in 2020 with three core businesses focused on private equity, private credit and sports advisory. Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper backed the firm. Kaplan previously worked at Tepper’s Appaloosa Management hedge fund and advised him on the Panthers acquisition completed in 2018.
The Seahawks deal was the latest high-profile sports transaction in which ASA has played a role. Andalusian advised Josh Harris’ group on its $6.05 billion purchase of the Washington Commanders in 2023. ASA supported the Friedkin Group in its purchase of Premier League club Everton in 2024, as well as Vinik Sports Group on its sale of the Tampa Bay Lightning that year. The firm helped Patrick Zalupski buy the Tampa Bay Rays for $1.7 billion last year.
Siclare joins a well-connected group of Andalusian deal partners who are tasked with sourcing advisory mandates and working with ASA to counsel clients. Among them are George Pyne, the founder and CEO of Bruin Capital, as well as the former president of IMG and COO of NASCAR, and Joel Litvin, who spent 28 years at the NBA, including a decade as president of league operations.
Jonathan Mariner was the CFO of the Florida Panthers and Miami Marlins before joining MLB in the same capacity. Mitch Ziets is the founder and CEO of sports advisory firm Tipping Point Sports, while Kirk Posmantur is the founder of marketing firm Axcess Worldwide.
