KUALA LUMPUR: Police have summoned a journalist to record his statement over a viral podcast recounting a drug trafficking case near a place of worship in Sentul.
Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam said Azrul Affandi Sobry was expected to appear at the district police headquarters tomorrow.
He said the investigation followed a police report lodged by the chairman of the temple in Jalan Sentul Manis, near the district police headquarters.
Anuar said the case was being investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
The investigation follows the circulation of a clip from the @Sembangohhyeahh podcast, in which a journalist recounted an undercover assignment to expose drug trafficking activities near a place of worship in Sentul.
The journalist also claimed that no action had been taken over the matter.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said the incident discussed in the podcast dated back to 2016.
