Amber Siyavus, known for her participation in the eighth season of Big Brother, died at the age of 46. The former contestant died on Friday, October 9, in Nevada, according to records from the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner obtained by People.

For now, the cause and manner of her death are listed as pending in the official documents. It has not been publicly disclosed what caused the death or when the investigation might be completed.

What is known about Amber Siyavus's death?

The coroner's records confirm Siyavus's death, but do not provide a cause. For that reason, any accounts that may circulate on social media or speculation about what happened cannot be considered a confirmed explanation.

The news was announced on October 12, three days after the death. Siyavus was 46 years old and died in Nevada, the state where he lived.

Her name became known in 2007, when she entered the Big Brother 8 house. Siyavus finished that season in seventh place and made it to the jury phase without winning any Head of Household or Power of Veto competitions. During the show, she formed a close relationship with Jameka Cameron and Dustin Erikstrup.

Her especially emotional nature was one of the most remembered traits of her time on the reality show. Her constant tears during the time living together led some followers to nickname her “Whamber”. The winner of that season was Dick Donato, known as “Evel Dick”.

The Big Brother family's reactions

The death of Siyavus prompted messages from former castmates and figures connected to the show. Julie Chen Moonves, longtime host of Big Brother, remembered the contestant on social media and shared images from the interview she did with her after her exit from the show.

Thank you for your heart and honesty. We will remember you with love

J Chen Moonves,

Dick Donato also reacted to the news and recalled the contact he maintained with Siyavus after the season. His words were added to the tributes published after her passing became known. “This is a shame”, wrote the winner of that edition before saying goodbye to his former castmate.

Siyavus's life was also marked by a family tragedy. In January 2018, her daughter, Lexi Tomcavage, died at the age of 18 in Ohio. The loss occurred more than a decade after Amber's participation in Big Brother.

Amber Siyavus's death brings together former cast members and followers of Big Brother once again around one of the most memorable contestants from the eighth season. For now, the official cause of her death remains pending, and authorities have not provided an explanation of what happened.
