KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia-Switzerland economic ties continue to grow, with bilateral trade reaching RM13.4 billion in 2025, an increase of 9.8 per cent from the previous year.
Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said as of June 2026, 211 manufacturing projects with Swiss participation had been implemented in Malaysia, involving investments worth RM12.8 billion and creating 19,744 jobs.
He welcomed more quality investments that could strengthen local industrial capabilities and create high-skilled job opportunities for Malaysians.
"We also discussed the Malaysia-European Free Trade Association Economic Partnership Agreement (Meepa) and efforts to strengthen investment cooperation.
"I emphasised the importance of implementing Meepa to expand market access and create more opportunities for businesses in both countries.
"This was alongside reaffirming Malaysia's commitment to sustainable industrial and trade development," he said in a Facebook post today.
He also shared photographs of himself receiving a courtesy call from Switzerland's state secretary for economic affairs Helene Budliger Artieda at his office here.
Johari said the meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen trade and investment cooperation, particularly in advanced manufacturing, precision engineering and medical technology.
