AnchorWatch Trust Company is now open for business as a qualified custodian for Bitcoin. Its pitch to wealthy holders and institutions rests on two numbers: a monthly fee that tops out at $10,000, and optional insurance of up to $370 million per client.
What AnchorWatch is offering
The company, known as ATC, operates under a Nevada state trust charter. It began operations on October 19, 2026, after receiving approval from the Nevada Financial Institutions Division.
That approval matters. Being a qualified custodian is the kind of credential that fiduciaries, trusts and other regulated money managers typically need before they can hold an asset on behalf of someone else.
ATC handles one asset only: Bitcoin.
Clients choose between two custody models. The first, called Flagship Custody, has ATC holding every key required to move funds. Clients can also hold additional keys of their own if they want a seat at the table.
The second option is the Multi-Institution Custody model, or MIC. Here, control is split across three parties: ATC, BitGo and CoinCorner, in a 2-of-3 multisig arrangement. Any two of the three firms must sign before coins can leave the wallet, so no single company can move them alone.
The fee cap and the insurance
Pricing is capped at $10,000 per month. According to the company’s terms, that ceiling holds regardless of how high Bitcoin’s price climbs or how much more a client deposits.
The insurance component is optional and backed by Lloyd’s of London. Coverage limits reach up to $370 million for individual clients, with enterprise clients reportedly able to access limits of up to $500 million.
The policy is issued in the client’s name rather than pooled across a custodian’s whole book of business. That distinction is not cosmetic: a shared policy can be stretched thin if many customers file claims after the same incident.
Covered risks include theft, violent coercion and custodian fraud. As with any insurance product, actual protection depends on policy terms and underwriting, so the headline limit is a ceiling, not a guarantee.
