Big 12 football is having a moment, with four teams in the Top 15, and ESPN’s College GameDay is staying with the rising conference for another week.
ESPN’s flagship college football show touched down in Provo, Utah, this past weekend for BYU’s huge win over Notre Dame, which vaulted it to No. 2 in the AP Poll. They’re giving their production crew a break and staying put in the Beehive State for another week.
GameDay will head to Salt Lake City for No. 10 Utah vs. No. 14 Houston in Week 8 of the 2026 college football season.
We liked the Beehive State so much that we’re sticking around!
Next stop is Salt Lake to see the Utes put the nation’s longest win streak on the line in a top-20 showdown with Houston

The Utes narrowly avoided catastrophe this past weekend, edging out the Colorado Buffaloes 27-24 and improving to 6-0.
The Cougars also survived a close call, beating the Oklahoma State Cowboys 35-32 in a Big 12 shootout and moving to 6-1.
The game will have huge implications for the conference, where a logjam of good teams sits atop the standings, and for the race to qualify for the College Football Playoff.
It hasn’t been long since GameDay came to SLC. They visited last November, when Utah played Cincinnati.
It’s worth noting that GameDay stuck with a Big 12 school for a second straight week. Before that, they’d shown up at five SEC campuses and one Big Ten campus. Chances are they’ll circle back to those conferences, especially as the conference crowns and CFP race tighten. But for now, the Big 12 is getting some well-earned attention from the college football world.
