Kathmandu, October 12
Madhu Acharya, who won a vice-president post at the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention, has said he will take the initiative to bring democrats and Gen Z outside the party into the Congress.
Giving a brief reaction after his victory at the convention, Acharya said the delegates had endorsed the voice of change and transformation that he and his colleagues have been raising within the party.
He said the delegates have made them more accountable for working on the agenda they put forward and fulfilling their commitments.
Because they have won the trust of the people as well as party leaders and workers, he said, they must work with even more effort and energy to fulfil it.
Acharya said he feels a responsibility to be more active in transforming the party.
Speaking about bringing groups outside the party together in the Congress, he said democrats outside the party must also be brought in.
He said the large body of public opinion that believes in democracy but is not affiliated with any party should be connected with the Congress.
Noting that the expectations of the Gen Z generation, which came forward with an agenda for change in the country, have not been met, Acharya said they should be brought from the streets into the Congress and cooperation on their agenda should be pursued.
Acharya said he feels a responsibility, alongside the party’s transformation, to bring in democrats and the Gen Z generation outside the party and cooperate on their agenda.
