Right now, all I can think about is wrapping myself in cosy knitwear. Thankfully, after winning over the fashion crowd last autumn, the hybrid scarf-jumper is back in full force. It’s easy to see why it’s such a people-pleaser: the Toteme-inspired quiet luxury appeal, combined with the extra layer of cosiness, makes for a winning combination.
This season, it’s been given a fresh update. Enter: Next’s new-in bandana knit.

In case you haven’t noticed, paisley is having a major moment this season. Usually found on silky neck scarves, tied to handbags or worn as a bandanna, the heritage-inspired print has now made its way on to knitwear.
The scarf-jumper silhouette is the perfect canvas for the trend, with Next’s design combining the comfort of a cosy knit with the polished appeal of a paisley bandana tied around the neck.

The jumper has a relaxed, boxy fit that gives it an effortless feel. Intricate paisley detailing around the hem and along the sleeves adds a Western-inspired twist. The matching chunky scarf completes the look, draping into a triangle shape at the back, elevating what otherwise would be a basic knit.
It’s also worth noting that the scarf is detachable, so it can be used to elevate the rest of your autumn wardrobe too. Double duty. Think: draped over a classic trench or simply tied over a tee.

One thing that keeps me coming back to Next is their brilliant use of colour. This jumper comes in two chic, seasonal shades (both so good, it’s hard to pick). First, there’s a warm rust-brown shade that’s the perfect pairing for dark denim. Then there’s a deep, inky navy that looks far more expensive than its £38 price tag.
When it comes to styling, the matching scarf takes the guesswork out of accessorising, instantly making any outfit feel more considered. It’s polished enough to dress up your favourite pair of jeans (a light cream wash would work particularly well with the paisley detailing).

Or, you could lean into the Western feel, much like Next has. Try a chic, denim maxi skirt, and a good pair of suede boots (I, for one, will definitely be copying this formula).
Safe to say, my knitwear collection just got an upgrade.
