England captain Harry Brook broke multiple records with double-century against Sri Lanka in the third fixture of the ODI tri-series at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Put into bat first, England racked up 429-4 in 50 overs, the highest ODI total on Pakistan soil. Brook was dismissed on the final ball of the innings after scoring 202 off just 116 balls.
The right-hander became first England player to score a double century in ODI cricket. He also broke the record of fastest double ton, scoring it on 114 balls. The record was previously held by India’s Shubman Gill, who struck 223 against West Indies on 117 balls.
In addition, Brook has registered the highest scored by an England player, going past Ben Stokes, who scored 183 against New Zealand in 2023.
The 27-year-old has now joined an elite club with players, who have scored a triple and double century in international cricket. India’s Virender Sehwag and West Indies Chris Gayle are the other two to achieve the feat.
