The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a suspect for allegedly impersonating a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) using a forged presidential number plate.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, 20 October, at about 8pm after police operatives intercepted a Lexus LX570 SUV with a concealed number plate in Maitama District, Abuja.
The police said preliminary investigations revealed that the plate bore the inscription “PRESIDENCY” and registration number 10B218 FG.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, further investigations established that the registration documents presented by the suspect were forged.
The command said the suspect had claimed to be the legitimate holder of the number plate before investigations uncovered the alleged impersonation.
“The vehicle and its occupant were promptly arrested for investigation and subsequent prosecution,” the statement said.
The police added that investigations were ongoing and the suspect would be charged to court upon their conclusion.

The FCT Police Command urged residents to remain law-abiding, cooperate with police operations and report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
Residents can also contact the command through its emergency numbers: 08032003913 and 08061581938.
