KUCHING: A video of an international school student's penknife attack this morning, which left a teacher injured, has gone viral on social media.
Some social media accounts claimed the 16-year-old had livestreamed the attack on an online community platform before the video was deleted.
In the footage, the teen is seen looking at himself in a bathroom mirror with a phone strapped to his head.
He then runs towards a classroom, opens the door and shouts: "This is what you get."
The boy then charges at a teacher before the screen goes black. Students can be heard screaming in the background.
Earlier, it was reported that the teacher was injured and taken to hospital. The student was subdued before being taken to the principal's office.
No other injuries have been reported so far.
Police later arrived at the school, while the student's parents were contacted.
Sarawak acting police commissioner Deputy Commissioner Saifullizan Ishak confirmed the incident.
He denied that an axe had been used, although an axe was seen in a separate video near the boy's bag.
As a safety precaution, the school temporarily closed its premises and asked parents to collect their children early.
