Corvallis, Ore.-based Samaritan Health Services is set to join Tacoma, Wash.-based MultiCare Health System Nov. 1, finalizing an affiliation announced in 2025.
All public agencies reviewing the deal have approved it or announced their intent to, according to an Oct. 12 joint news release. The affiliation cleared an initial review by Oregon regulators earlier this year.
Under the deal, Samaritan will keep its name, local leadership and community-based governance, and MultiCare has committed to investing $700 million over 10 years in access, provider recruitment and retention, facilities and technology. The organizations will begin a phased integration Nov. 1, the release said.
Samaritan operates five hospitals and serves more than 290,000 residents in Oregon’s mid-Willamette Valley and central coast. MultiCare has 13 hospitals and more than 300 care locations across Washington, Idaho and Oregon, according to its website.
