Former Germany defender Jérôme Boateng has said he is "very proud and happy" to be working as an assistant coach at Turkish top-flight club Trabzonspor.
In an Instagram post late on Monday, the 2014 World Cup winner said he was learning every day from German head coach Thomas Reis and his team.
Boateng said the role also allowed him to share his experience and work with players "on and off the pitch, which is very valuable to me."
Among those players is Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, who joined Trabzonspor from Liverpool earlier this year. The club currently sit fifth in the Turkish league.
Boateng's new role comes after a planned coaching placement at Bayern Munich fell through in 2025 following strong protests from fans.
Bayern coach Vincent Kompany had invited Boateng to gain experience with his coaching staff, but the former defender later said he had decided to focus on other matters "following recent discussions about me."
The protests appeared to be linked to a 2024 ruling by a Munich court, which found Boateng guilty of intentionally causing bodily harm to a former girlfriend and issued him a formal warning. Boateng denies ever having hit a woman.
