Zakiya Sultana Kornia is one of the popular singers in Bangladesh’s music scene.
Alongside her singing career, she is serving as a judge on RTV’s reality show Little Star Season 2. She is also busy working on new music and performing live on stage.
Asked about her experience as a judge on RTV Little Star Season 2, Kornia said taking on the role for the first time had been a unique experience.
“When the organisers put their trust in me, I try my best to live up to their expectations.
I want to judge each contestant’s singing fairly, without letting emotions or other factors influence my decisions,” she said. Veteran pop singer Ferdous Wahid and singer Liza are also on the judging panel.
Kornia herself rose to fame through a reality show. Does sitting on the other side of the judging table bring back memories of her own journey as a contestant?
“Of course, it does. I was once in the same position, trying to prove myself through a competition.
Having gone through that experience, I understand how important this stage is for a contestant,” she said.
Kornia is now planning to release several new solo and duet tracks.
Known for winning over audiences with her stage performances, she was also asked whether she might venture into modelling or acting.
“Not really. I have modelled for fashion features in various newspapers and magazines, but those opportunities came mainly at their invitation.
I never pursued modelling because I wanted to become a model. I have no particular plans to act either.
I might try something different for fun, but I want to remain a singer first and foremost. Music is my passion, and I want to keep moving forward with it,” she said.
