MALAYSIA must preserve and pass on its artistic and cultural heritage to younger generations even as the country advances, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
He said cultural traditions remained close to the hearts of Malaysians and must be kept alive to ensure the nation’s heritage continued to be appreciated and cherished by future generations.
“I have always believed that art and culture are close to the hearts of the people. Therefore, this heritage must continue to be kept alive so that it can also be enjoyed and loved by the younger generation.
“As we continue to drive the country forward, we must preserve our cultural roots and national identity,” he said in a social media post on Sunday.
Anwar made the remarks after attending the Gema Bumantara traditional concert by National Laureate Singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin at the TM National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday night.

He praised Siti and her production team for a performance that celebrated the richness of Nusantara’s artistic heritage, noting that the audience remained until the end despite the rain.
“Congratulations to Datuk Seri Siti and the entire production team for a truly special and soulful performance.
“Despite the rain, everyone who attended stayed until the end of the show. Well done, Datuk Seri Siti, and well done to her fans for their spirit and enthusiasm,” he said.
The concert attracted an estimated 63,000 spectators. Anwar also shared photographs of himself attending the performance. - October 18, 2026
