Oburu extended his gratitude to Kenyans, ODM members and supporters of the broad-based arrangement, acknowledging their goodwill, solidarity and continued support.
In his message, the Siaya senator urged Kenyans to uphold the values of inclusivity, hard work and mutual respect, saying these would help secure a better future for generations to come.
“Let us carry this spirit of patriotism forward in our homes, our workplaces, and our communities,” Oburu stated.
He added that collective responsibility and unity remained important in building a brighter future for the country.
“Together, through inclusivity, hard work, and mutual respect, we will secure a brighter future for generations to come,” he said.
The ODM leader also wished Kenyans and their families a peaceful and joyful national holiday, calling on them to reflect on the country's journey and the contributions of those who have shaped its history.
“I wish you and your families a joyous, peaceful, and reflective Mashujaa Day,” he stated.
He concluded his message with a prayer for the country and the slogan “Usawa ni Sawa”, which has featured in his political messaging.
The statement comes as political leaders across the country mark Mashujaa Day, a national holiday dedicated to honouring individuals who have contributed to Kenya's independence, democracy, development and social progress.
Mashujaa Day celebrations ongoing in Eldoret
Meanwhile, national celebrations are taking place at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, where President William Ruto is expected to preside over the ceremony.
The event is being jointly hosted by Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Elgeyo Marakwet counties, marking the first time the three counties have collaborated to host the national celebrations.
This year's festivities are anchored on the theme “Ngao Yetu, Ustawi Michezoni na Uchumi Bora”, focusing on security, sports and economic development.
The celebrations also follow a week of exhibitions and public engagements at Eldoret National Polytechnic, where government institutions and other stakeholders showcased initiatives linked to the three thematic areas.
