The Casas Con Vistas Resort, located in Island Garden City of Samal, on Wednesday denied claims that it is owned by Davao City First District Representative Paolo "Pulong" Duterte.
“We are aware of the social media posts circulating regarding the ownership of CASAS CON VISTAS RESORT,” the resort said in a statement.
“We categorically deny the allegations suggesting any connection between the Resort's ownership and Congressman Paolo Duterte or any person holding public office,” it said.
Casas Con Vistas further said that its owners are private citizens, “who do not hold public office and are not affiliated, directly or indirectly, with Congressman Paolo Duterte or any public official.”
On Monday, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is investigating properties linked to Vice President Sara Duterte and her family amid allegations of cash deliveries by a dismissed police officer, prompting Pulong to challenge the agency to present evidence supporting its claims.
In a Facebook post, the Davao City solon challenged Matibag to establish the facts and present evidence to support his allegations.
He said he trusted that the NBI director knew the difference between a photograph and proof of ownership.
Casas Con Vistas, meanwhile, urged the public “to exercise due diligence by verifying information through credible sources before publishing, sharing, or amplifying unverified allegations that may damage the reputation and good name of the Resort and its owners.”
The resort warned that it may pursue legal remedies against persons “who knowingly publishes or disseminates false and defamatory statements concerning the Resort or its owners, or who otherwise violates applicable laws.”
“We reserve all rights and remedies available to us under the law. We remain committed to providing our guests with quality service and maintaining the integrity and reputation of CASAS CON VISTAS RESORT,” it said. —VAL, GMA News
