Alex Bauman and Jeremiah Earby are looking to become the newest Michigan Wolverines after receiving a temporary restraining order to suit up for the football team.
Judge Julia B. Owdziej allowed the two players a temporary restraining order on Tuesday. Bauman and Earby are enrolled at Michigan but have yet to officially sign with the team. A preliminary injunction hearing for a fifth year of eligibility is scheduled for November 4.
Bauman measures 6-foot-5, 250 pounds. He would be a major addition to a troubled tight end room. Bauman was part of last year’s Miami team that made it to the CFP national championship game. He raked in 18 catches for 166 yards and one touchdown. At Michigan, Bauman could be more productive in an offense that has no number one option at tight end.
Earby, standing at 6-foot-2, spent his previous two seasons at Boise State and was part of the 2024 team that made a CFP first round appearance. During his time with the Broncos, he racked up 94 tackles, 15 pass deflections, and had five picks.
With the addition of Bauman on offense, the Wolverines would receive some much-needed help. Earby would be coming into a solid Michigan defensive unit. Michigan left spots open on the roster in hopes that Bauman and Earby would be eligible to play.
The Wolverines (3-2) are set to face off Penn State in Ann Arbor on Saturday, October 17 (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS).
