Apple today became the second company ever to close with a market valuation north of $5 trillion, following NVIDIA’s landmark achievement in October 2025. Here are the details.
Apple counters tech selloff
Apple’s stock closed at $342.96 today, up 0.5% on the Nasdaq. Although modest, the gain was enough to push the company’s market capitalization past the $5 trillion threshold, ending the day at $5.01 trillion.
Today’s result was particularly notable as most of the tech sector operated in the red, with Oracle closing down 8.83%, Meta down 3.27%, Nvidia down 3.16%, Microsoft down 1.8%, Amazon down 1.74%, and Google down 1.68%, to name a few.
Although Apple closed above the $5 trillion mark for the first time, this was not the first time it had reached that valuation. As The WSJ noted, today marked the seventh time Apple crossed the $5 trillion threshold during intraday trading, but the first time it managed to stay above it through the closing bell.

During intraday trading, Apple’s stock reached $347.07 per share, just 0.31% below its record high of $348.15.
Today’s milestone comes on the heels of a series of major product announcements from Apple, including the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, the iPhone Duo, and, just yesterday, the new Apple HomeView, HomePod mini 2, and Apple TV 4K.
It also comes ahead of the company’s fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report on November 2, which will offer a clearer picture of how Apple has navigated rising component costs and the impact of its recent hardware price increases.
Be that as it may, Apple has seen its stock rise roughly 5% since John Ternus took over as CEO on September 1 (or 8.2% if you count the August 31 closing price of $316.85), with today’s milestone further underscoring investor confidence in the company under its new leadership.
