Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued an official ministerial decree transferring Ambassador Ahmed Nayef Rashid Al-Dulaimi to head the Iraqi Embassy in Riyadh as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, succeeding Ambassador Safia Al-Suhail.
The high-level diplomatic reshuffle comes directly ahead of an official Gulf tour by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, scheduled to begin with an executive visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia followed by bilateral engagements in Kuwait.
A formal document confirmed that the decree, issued by the administrative department of the foreign ministry and signed by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, designates Al-Dulaimi as head of mission in the Saudi capital, taking formal effect from the date of his administrative detachment from his previous diplomatic post.
The envoy swap precedes Prime Minister Al-Zaidi’s slated trip to Riyadh on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, which marks the resumption of a regional itinerary initially postponed in July due to rapid security developments across the Middle East.
Following his high-level consultations in Riyadh, the prime minister will proceed to Kuwait to advance multifaceted bilateral coordination across shared borders, joint investments, and regional stability files.
Preparations for the prime ministerial summit are already actively underway on the ground in Riyadh. Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudair and Electricity Minister Ali Saadi Waheeb arrived in the Saudi capital on Sunday evening,
October 11, tasked with aligning key energy dossiers ahead of the leaders’ meeting while participating in the 25th World Energy Congress following an official invitation extended by the Saudi Minister of Energy.
