Jalen Hurts’ health is now raising questions as much as it is prompting an apology.
A former NFL player, Michael Robinson, previously questioned Hurts’ blood clot diagnosis. Robinson alleged that Hurts was using his diagnosis to escape taking blame for Philadelphia’s disappointing season.
Jalen Hurts is no stranger to injuries, as he previously had shoulder discomfort in 2022 and a concussion in 2024. In January 2022, Hurts also wrote to the Washington Football Team and the NFL after a fan fell when a metal barrier collapsed at FedEx Field.
Jalen Hurts Gets An Apology From Michael Robinson After Loyalty Question

Robinson publicly apologized to Hurts after claiming that the quarterback was using his health issues to escape blame. The former NFL fullback made the comments during Thursday’s “NFL GameDay Kickoff.” He questioned Hurts after the Eagles announced he would miss their game against the Carolina Panthers.
Robinson claimed that the NFL player was removing himself from the situation because of the team’s poor season, so he would not take any blame. His statement sparked criticism because people questioned the quarterback’s commitment. The Eagles revealed Hurts’ condition after losing to the Panthers.
Robinson issued a public apology on Monday night. “I want to sincerely apologize to Jalen Hurts, his family, the Philadelphia Eagles organization and fan base for my comments last Thursday,” he wrote. He admitted his claims were “unfounded.”
He also said he should never have speculated about Hurts’ health. TMZ reported that Hurts was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli, which means blood clots were discovered in both of his lungs.

The Eagles reportedly placed Hurts on injured reserve after his first diagnosis. More medical tests were taken, which revealed that the quarterback had deep vein thrombosis and bilateral pulmonary emboli. The second diagnosis confirmed that blood clots had also been discovered in both of his lungs.
ESPN reporter Adam Schefter announced on Monday that doctors had found blood clots in Hurts’ lungs. Hurts’ representative, Nicole Lynn, said that the initial diagnosis was “left calf superficial vein thrombosis.” Lynn confirmed that his diagnosis had changed after further testing and monitoring.
Lynn also explained that Hurts would need blood thinners to prevent additional clots from forming. The treatment means he cannot participate in physical activity that could put his health at risk. He has therefore been ruled out for the remainder of the season. The Blast noted that she revealed that Hurts is clinically stable and expected to recover fully.
She said that he would remain active around the team while receiving treatment. She also hoped that he would return to the field once he no longer needed blood thinners.

The controversy was discussed on “The Low Down,” in a YouTube video uploaded by TMZ. Hurts was diagnosed with a superficial blood clot in his lungs while the team was in London for an international game. He was reportedly cleared to play just hours after leaving the hospital.
The NFL player suffered a leg injury during the game against the Los Angeles Rams in early October. The medical staff discovered the blood clot, but he went on to play the game. He reportedly traveled back to Philadelphia with the team on a seven-hour flight.
Critics are now questioning whether the team should have taken a more careful approach to their player’s health. The critics also said that the medical expert should have explained his health condition to the public. Commentators have also questioned the decision to let Hurts play and travel despite his health condition.

On September 28, 2025, Hurts found himself in the team’s controversy after A.J. Brown shared a cryptic message on X. The post read, “If you’re not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don’t make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way.” Some believed the post was directed at Hurts and other teammates.
The post came after Philadelphia defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Brown recorded two receptions for seven yards in the game. Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, talked about the post on the “New Heights” podcast. Travis questioned Brown’s frustration, saying, “You’re 4-0, boss. C’mon, man.”
