“This measure continues the intervention applied in the previous period, in a context marked by pressures on the fuel market. The mechanism is calibrated according to the evolution of international quotations and pump prices, with the aim of limiting their effects on the population and the economy,” the ministry said in a statement.
The 25% reduction amounts to RON 701.07 per 1,000 litres, or RON 829.69 per tonne.
Accordingly, the effective excise duty on standard diesel sold on the domestic market will remain at RON 2,103.22 per 1,000 litres, or RON 2,489.05 per tonne, over October 16-31.
According to the ministry, the assessment for the October 16-31 period showed that Platts diesel quotations (VPM) had increased by 47.78%, while the average pump price of standard diesel (VM) had risen by 35.60%.
Based on these indicators and the mechanism established by law, the 25% excise duty reduction will remain in force for October 16-31, 2026.
