Former West Indies cricketer and commentator Ian Bishop has praised Pakistan’s young batter Maaz Sadaqat following his impressive performance in the second T20I against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
Sadaqat scored a brilliant 96 off 51 balls as Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by 82 runs at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
The 21-year-old left-handed batter struck six fours and seven sixes, narrowly missing his maiden T20I century as Pakistan posted 215-3 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
Captain Sahibzada Farhan also played a key role, scoring 73 off 44 deliveries, including four fours and five sixes. It was his second consecutive half-century of the series.
Fakhar Zaman contributed 22 off 17 balls with four boundaries, while Hasan Nawaz remained unbeaten on 19 off nine deliveries, hitting one four and one six.
Chasing 216, Sri Lanka struggled to build momentum and finished at 133-7 in 20 overs.
Mohammad Imran Randhawa led Pakistan’s bowling attack with three wickets for just 11 runs in four overs. Salman Mirza took two wickets, while Saim Ayub and Shadab Khan claimed one each.
Following the match, Bishop took to social media platform X to praise Sadaqat, recalling his performances in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026.
“We were happy to see the talent of Maaz Sadaqat in the CPL 2026 for the Jamaica Kingsmen. His good form continues for Pakistan and we hope he has a long and successful career. He is a nice 360 batter,” Bishop wrote.
