The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a man accused of impersonating a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The suspect was apprehended on October 20, 2026, after police operatives intercepted a Lexus LX570 SUV displaying a suspected fake Presidency number plate in Maitama District, Abuja.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Thursday.
Adeh said the suspect and the vehicle were taken into police custody for investigation and possible prosecution.
She disclosed that preliminary findings showed the vehicle was using a concealed number plate bearing the inscription “PRESIDENCY” and registration number 10B218 FG.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect claimed to be the rightful owner of the number plate. However, further investigations reportedly revealed that the documents presented in connection with the registration were forged.
