KUALA LUMPUR: Ancom Nylex Bhd's net profit rose 15.2 per cent to RM23.13 million in the first quarter ended Aug 31, 2026 lifted by its industrial chemicals segment.
Revenue for the quarter under review climbed to RM533.42 million from RM447.36 million a year ago.
Its industrial chemicals segment saw selling prices move higher alongside firmer crude oil prices.
The segment's revenue climbed 32.8 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to RM355.9 million from RM268 million previously, while pre-tax earnings almost doubled to RM19.4 million from RM10.2 million.
The improvement was largely attributable to healthier margins and higher operational efficiency in the segment's distribution business.
On the other hand, Agrichem generated revenue of RM136 million and pre-tax profit of RM24.2 million.
The company said the underlying rise in volume was masked by the stronger Ringgit against the US dollar which lowered the translated value of the segment's US dollar-denominated export sales.
Group chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Lee Cheun Wei said sales volumes in its agrichem segment continued to grow, reflecting sustained uptake across key export markets.
"Overall demand for our Agrichem products remains healthy. In Brazil specifically, the market's response to MSMA for soybean use has been promising since the product label was extended to cover the crop.
"Orders have been encouraging as
the planting season gets underway, and we expect this new market to contribute increasingly over time.
"We already have the production headroom to lift output further, which allows us to respond quickly as this market develops," he said in a statement.
However, he noted that the external environment continues to warrant a cautious approach.
Disruptions to the Strait of Hormuz have affected the flow of oil and natural gas, contributing to higher energy prices.
"While energy flows through the Strait have recovered in recent weeks, geopolitical and shipping risks remain elevated. These factors are weighing on business sentiment and the broader global economic outlook.
"We will continue to monitor these developments closely while pursuing the growth opportunities ahead," he added.
