Bethesda is presenting a handful of new post-apocalyptic RPG experiences for Fallout 4

Bethesda just gave everyone a few good reasons to boot up Fallout 4 again — even if you've already racked up hundreds of hours in the post-apocalyptic RPG and its many expansions. A fresh trio of must-play releases pushes the series into totally new territory.
All the new experiences are made by modders in partnership with Bethesda, so these aren't your typical fan projects. These Bethesda-endorsed developments almost come across like official DLC updates.
Perhaps the most impressive new Fallout 4 experience is Command Override, a mini-campaign spotlighting the robotics company, RobCo. The adventure is focused on technology, so you'll be hacking and controlling all sorts of mechs. As you dive deeper into the RobCo headquarters, you'll come across experimental new gear like a Ghost Pilot Suit that helps you see through walls. There are also new weapons, like a Beam Gun that can overheat and deal extra damage to enemies. Just be careful: the extra punch comes with some extra radiation poisoning as well.
Since you can pilot robots directly, you'll have access to their arsenal as well. Command Override's description reads, "Access everything from the Sentry Bot's missile pod to the Assaultron's eye laser during combat." There's an action-packed trailer embedded above, but there's also a live-action advertisement for the game — just to give you an idea of how ambitious these new projects actually are.
Fallout 4 veterans return
Then there's Fallout 4: FEVer Dreams, a new creation that brings back Courtenay Taylor and Brian T. Delaney, the original actors who voiced Fallout 4's protagonists. You begin the adventure trapped, without any weapons and seemingly poisoned by an active strain of the Forced Evolutionary Virus. Though there are shooting elements, FEVer Dreams switches things up by offering players an escape room-style dungeon full of puzzles. It's a lore-heavy experience that promises to shed light on Fallout's notorious bioweapon. Expect some familiar faces — but with some totally new gear and weapons.
The official trailer makes FEVer Dreams look like a trippy odyssey that plays with perception, which is exactly the scenario you need when you're trapped in a facility full of Deathclaws and mini-nukes. Though you have to pick one of the two protagonists, the other spouse will talk to you throughout the game. There are new characters as well, and they'll bring some heavy choices: at one point during the footage, a ghoul informs the player that only one of them can use the remaining dose of what is presumably a cure for FEV. "How do you think we should handle this?" the ghoul asks.
The final announcement is for a Fallout 4 experience slated to drop sometime in 2027. It's called Fallout 4: Fathomless, and it's a cosmic horror adventure where you explore a mysterious deep-sea crater. The entire thing takes place underwater, and you can expect to meet some brand-new Eldritch horror while exploring shipwrecks. Like FEVer Dreams, this expansion is voiced. You can catch a glimpse of the spooky game addition in Bethesda's official Fallout Day video below.
These might be the distractions you need while waiting for the new Fallout projects from Bethesda or Obsidian Entertainment to see the light of day. After all, Bethesda isn't done with the next Elder Scrolls — nevermind the next big Fallout game. All the new mod creations are accessible to PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC users alike through Bethesda's Creation platform.
