The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched a fiery attack on the All Progressives Congress (APC), alleging that the ruling party is bribing its candidates.
The NDC also described the recent defection of several of its political candidates to the governing party as “good riddance to bad rubbish. ”
In a statement on Tuesday, the party accused the APC of resorting to inducement, offering cash, political appointments, and material incentives to lure “money-minded ” candidates away from opposition ranks.
The NDC’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., noted that those who accepted the APC’s incentives were never truly aligned with the core values and ideological commitments of the party.
“For those who have fallen for this bait, it is clear that they lack the values, virtues, and ideological commitment associated with our great party. They were never truly of us. To them, we say good riddance to bad rubbish, and we wish them luck in their political misadventures, ” the Director said in the statement.
Addressing the vacancy left by the defectors, the NDC announced immediate plans to invoke the Electoral Act, 2026, to organize fresh congresses across the affected constituencies.
The party assured its base that these upcoming primaries will produce credible, competent, and trustworthy replacements.
Describing the ruling party’s strategy as “the last kicks of a dying horse, ” the opposition spokesperson urged supporters to remain calm, claiming the APC’s actions stem from desperation ahead of upcoming elections.
The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to its platform, pledging to restore good governance, improve national security, and drive economic prosperity across the country.
The spokesperson of the APC, Felix Morka, could not be reached for comments on the allegations but a chieftain of the party, who sought anonymity, dismissed the claims by the NDC, urging the party to put its house in order.
