Agentic AI and governance recorded some of the fastest growth as demand expanded beyond technology roles.
The share of Singapore job advertisements seeking artificial intelligence skills more than tripled over two and a half years, according to data from Jobstreet by SEEK.
AI-related terms appeared in 5.1% of advertisements on the platform in August 2026, up from 1.3% in January 2024.
Singapore had the third-highest share of AI-related advertisements across SEEK’s eight Asia-Pacific markets, behind Hong Kong at 6.6% and Thailand at 5.2%.
Although AI-related listings still represented a small portion of overall advertisements, Jobstreet said the increase showed that AI was becoming more important across Singapore’s labor market.
Agentic AI recorded the fastest growth amongst the categories tracked by Jobstreet. Mentions of agentic AI-related terms increased 460% in August from a year earlier.
SEEK Chief Economist Blair Chapman said companies were seeking workers who could use AI agents to complete tasks that traditionally required human input.
Demand for governance capabilities was also rising as companies considered the risks associated with broader AI adoption. Advertisements mentioning AI ethics and governance increased 132% year on year.
Machine learning remained the most commonly requested AI skill. Mentions increased 93% in the three months to August compared with the corresponding period last year, the fastest growth amongst SEEK’s regional markets.
Generative AI-related terms, including text generation, foundation models and GPT, increased 92.5% over the same period.
Information and communications technology had the highest share of AI-related advertisements. The proportion increased from an average of 7.2% in the six months to August 2024 to 21.3% in the six months to August 2026.
Demand also spread into professional and creative fields. AI-related listings accounted for 10.2% of advertisements in advertising, arts and media, up from 2.3%.
The most common AI-related roles are also changing. Data scientist, software engineer and software developer led in 2024, whilst AI engineer, software engineer and automation engineer were the most common titles in 2026.
Newer positions included full-stack AI engineer, AI solutions engineer, data privacy and AI trust officer, AI model trainer and AI video creator.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW
Reaching the people who run Asia's businesses is harder than it used to be.
Inboxes are crowded. Attention is short. The executives you most want to reach — the founders, CFOs, and operators who actually move budgets — are the hardest to find through the usual channels. If you're building a company, a category, or a reputation, you already know this.
We've spent twenty years building the room they read. Singapore Business Review is where senior decision makers in Singapore and across Southeast Asia come for business coverage they can't get elsewhere — in print, online, and in person at the summits and roundtables we host across seven markets.
If you have something these readers should know about — a point of view worth publishing, a product worth their attention, an event worth their time — we'd like to hear what you're trying to do.
