Windows 11 KB5127648 fixes mouse stutter in some games, adds Copilot key remapping, and is the last update for 24H2 Home and Pro. Read what changed in this update.
Microsoft released the October 2026 Patch Tuesday update for Windows 11 on October 13. KB5127648 covers versions 24H2, 25H2, and 26H2 (builds 26100.9711, 26200.9711, and 26300.9711), while version 26H1 receives KB5127646. The update brings a gaming fix, Copilot key remapping, and the final security release for 24H2 Home and Pro.
Mouse stutter fix for games
Microsoft lists one line under Gaming in the release notes, saying the update fixes an issue that could cause mouse input to stutter in some games. The company doesn't name the cause, affected games, or specific hardware, so details like DPI, polling rate, or graphics APIs aren't confirmed. The fix wasn't part of the September 22 optional preview, so this is its first release.
Copilot key remapping
Users can now remap the Copilot key under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Keyboard. The available options are the right Ctrl or the Context Menu key, and the feature is rolling out gradually. Microsoft notes that Right Ctrl may break shortcuts such as Right Ctrl + Win and suggests Left Ctrl for those.
Other fixes
Downloaded files, including PDFs, preview normally again in File Explorer’s preview pane. The update also fixes Windows Hello fingerprint sign-in problems after a cold boot, AC-3 audio crashes, Always On VPN issues, and printing failures with RAW or Generic Text Only drivers. It adds the UTC-05:00 Manitoba time zone ahead of its November 1 change and fixes some storage spaces. Direct virtual disks failing to come online.
Security fixes
Microsoft patched more than 1,400 CVEs this month, although exact tallies differ slightly between security trackers. Two are zero-days. CVE-2026-96951 is a Windows Shell flaw that bypasses Mark of the Web protections and was exploited in the wild, while CVE-2026-108398 is a .NET Framework bug that was publicly disclosed but is not known to be exploited.
End of support for 24H2 Home and Pro
October 13 also marks the end of support for Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro, and KB5127648 is the last update those editions will receive. Enterprise and Education editions remain supported until October 12, 2027. Home and Pro users need to move to 25H2 or 26H2 to keep getting security updates. Windows 11 23H2 receives its own update, KB5126653.
